The natives were advanced. They had abundant food and water sources and they lived a clean life that was harmonious with the land and left sustainable resources for future people. They saw no need to conquer new lands and destroy other cultures. They were comfortable with what they had.
When the white people came here they flushed that all down the toilet.
Your idea of advanced is probably very different then theirs.
By the time that the Vikings came to North American (by 1000AD, and possibly somewhat earlier), the natives had pretty much advanced over all of the Americas. The last migration wave I am aware of took place with the Inuit areas, with the Thule, and Dorset peoples, one replacing the other (although I cannot remember which). This was happening around this time, or somewhat before.
